Inlarge bowl beat butter until creamy and add sugar. Beat in eggs and add vanilla. Gradually stir in flour. Turn into well greased and lightly floured tube or bundt pan. Bake in a preheated 300° oven for 1½ hours. Cool in pan for 10 minutes. Invert on cooling rack or plate to cool.
